Galleries can have hundreds of submissions by great artists. How do you stand ahead at a great local gallery? Same way you do in the BDSM and fetish communities. Volunteer and get involved. Sitting on the floor of the La Luz de Jesus gallery this week, I estimated that we had over 1,000 coasters to mount by Thursday evening. Each coaster had to be gently tacked into position on the wall with 3 push pins. That’s a tremendous pain in the ass, even for paid employees. Which is how I found myself on the floor taking a break as a volunteer to help wit set up for the 2017 Coaster Show.

It’s even more grueling than expected, but earned myself and other volunteers respect from the gallery and fellow showing artists. One reward was to get a personal preview of what was cooking up for this year’s show. Here are some that stood out for me.

Wicked by Olivia Delphi, ink, gouache and nail polish on coaster board. The polish is a nice touch for this foot fetish piece. $50, contact info@laluzdejesus.com for purchase info.

Candy Girl 3 by Karl Johnsen. Acrylic on wood. $50, contact info@laluzdejesus.com for purchase info

Honorable mention: Bella by Chance Garrick Williams. Williams definitely has a sense of fetish and kink. However, his entries were photos transferred onto art paper. This means I’d have to have his 2257 paperwork on file to show them here. However, you can see them at: http://laluzdejesus.com/the-5th-annual-coaster-show-harold-fox/garrick-williams_bella/

This is the fetish art winner in my book. Silent Homemaker by Izzy Garcia. Watercolor, ball point, and fine line marker. Garcia is more known for his black and white work, which makes this an even better value for collectors. $70, contact info@laluzdejesus.com for purchase info

I want to give a final, honorable mention to Fetish by Peg Grady. While the content is pretty basic, that she hand stitched this stands out in my mind. This was the first fetish art coaster that grabbed my attention. She also has a set of fishnets and a corset on display this year. This piece is $75, contact info@laluzdejesus.com for purchase info

Of course, there is so much more at the show this year. There’s erotica, a couple of artists are doing gender-bent pieces, and there is a lot of edgy art I just don’t have the room for here. The opening show is Friday, September 1st at 8:00 P.M., at La Luz de Jesus gallery, 4633 Hollywood Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90027. The show will be on display all month and end with a closing party on Sunday, October 1st.

You can also call into La Luz for purchase info, their number is 323-666-7667. A full, visually overloading catalog can be viewed at http://laluzdejesus.com/the-5th-annual-coaster-show-harold-fox/#more-21998 and also includes the work of ultra lowbrow artist Harold Fox. So check this out already!

Latex Sissy Slave Bondage Art

Latex Sissy Slave in Bondage

Sooooo! Last night I was at NERDGASM at Threshold, a Wednesday night merge between a GeekMunch and a play party. It was awesome! They turned the main room into gaming space and the back rooms opened for play. We had a better turnout than to some of the first Threshold play parties when the clubhouse first opened.

I grabbed a seat at an empty table and do what I do. Inspired by a helmet in HEAVY METAL’s rock issue last week, I had started a mask design. Once seated, I just kept going.

Wish I had brought more than a pencil and eraser. Next time, I’m bringing some colored pencils and other materials. I’ll gladly share. The circle was to see how this would look on a coaster. So far, I’m not sure where this piece will go. It may become something larger, or I may find a way to color and frame this sell the sketch off.

Fetish Art: La Luz de Jesus Coaster Show Submissions

Today is a huge moment in Los Angeles as the e-mail server for La Luz de Jesus Gallery gets pushed to the limit with hundreds of submissions for the gallery’s world famous Coaster Show.

I submitted last Friday, getting in a few days before deadline, but still most likely in a colossal  horde of e-mails waiting for gallery manager Matt Kennedy to swim through when he got in on Monday morning.

UPDATE: Now with B-sides!

The submissions have been accepted! The show opens with a reception on Friday, September 1st and ends with a closing party on Sunday, October 1st.

Femdom Art IOU CBT E-mail info@laluzdejesus.com for purchase details

I call this IOU CBT. This was almost the B-side, but when I added the Dommes and the pink, it really started to come together. Price: $30 E-mail info@laluzdejesus.com or call (323) 666-7667 for purchase details.

Back side of IOU CBT. It's definitely a strong piece. This was going to be the front, but there's more going on on the other image.

You remember Scotch Bonnets and Bondage. Price: $30 E-mail info@laluzdejesus.com or call (323) 666-7667 for purchase details

Back side to Scotch Bonnets and Bondage. This was going to be called Scotch Bonnets and Ball Gags, but since it made the B-side, no one would get the title.

Femdom Art Things Are Looking Up E-mail info@laluzdejesus.com for purchase details

My favorite Femdom piece  is Things Are Looking Up. SOLD!

Back side of Things Are Looking Up. This was probably the weakest piece of them all and almost didn't make it. Seemed like a good idea to combine all the shoe art pieces I had into a glow in the dark piece. It does glow in the dark. However, I wanted to do the piece in red, and that has made it awkward. If the entire piece does not sell, I may keep experimenting with this side.

The back sides have not been submitted and will not be included in the official catalog unless requested by the gallery. Last year someone tried to buy a backside and the gallery could not find it. Things would have been even stranger had someone else tried to buy the front. These are awesome deals and great for collectors. I’m also including stickers to sweeten the deal when the coasters sell.
