Thank You Failure to Fire! Art from Blood, Babes, and Bullets

J Grant and Mel Hynes of Failure to Fire apparently like my review, and like my site.

And apparently like it so much they added a link to JayMoyes.com right on the front page, without any hint my site tends to be adult rated.

Not complaining! Just blushing a tad.

So, for those gun fans reading Failure to Fire, welcome! Here’s a little something just for you today from my old art book, Blood, Babes, and Bullets.

Before doing BDSM and Femdom art, I certainly had a girls with guns fetish. This was in part thanks to a lot of animae, action movies, and certainly a lot of marketing products around the gun shop in Livermore in my impressionable age.

Then, I got hold of a couple of issues of The Spectator. San Francisco’s adult newspaper and really the trade magazine for sex workers in the Bay Area. For the first time, I began seeing words like “lesbian,” “B&D,” “Mistress” and “S&M.”

So of course, the character of Elaine “B&D” Dallas was born.

The character of Elaine Dallas was an undercover police officer, posing as a sex worker and strip club dancer to get info on drug dealers for the vice squad. The idea was the guns would fit in perfectly as part of her cover. The character was embracing her role a little too well and was an eccentric member of the squad.

Not much happened with the character after high school. She appeared in a couple of short stories and quick strips, but I still dreamed of doing something with the character. I had no idea what the real world had in store for me farther down the road.

Gun Shop Humor, Gotta Share!

Those that know me well, especially from my high school days, know that I was a gun nut and worked at American Outdoor Sports Supply. Which was better known as the “gun shop” in Livermore.

All sorts of weird shit happens at a gun shop. Which may be why in some ways it prepared me for working in porn.

Well, I’m not the only one that appreciates gun humor, and more specifically, gun shop humor. James Grant and Mel Hynes have created Failure to Fire, a very funny comic about gun shops.

Failure To Fire

Failure to Fire features the center of right Mick, who is just simply trying to make it through the day without shooting some of his weird customers (or his boss) and hoping he might actually get laid some day.

Here’s some of his adventures…

Stupid questions (I love the Hey! I saw it in a movie!):

Notice the “No Talking About Ron Paul” sign in the background. Not that Grant and Hynes have anything against Ron. It’s just apparently Ron Paul rants come up a lot in gun shops.

Scroll down to check out the comments section. Sometimes Grant will include gun related youtube videos or have further humor and stories to share.

Apparently, it’s no secret that Grant and Hynes are gun nuts. Their older work, FLEM Comics covers quite a bit of that ground. But these two creators are much more well known for their funny cat comic, Two Lumps, as seen on places like Icanhascheezeburger.

That’s quite a change, and one hell of a lot of work to do, but I really dig it. Great work James and Mel!

But it’s the Pelvic Thrust That Really Drives You Insane

I had a great story lined up, and everything crashed on me. Sometimes it’s best to let the art do the talking.
