Art Show Review: Black Licorice Hammocks by Voxart 9

Editor’s Note: DomCon was a big success, but I’m running behind on something. I’ll have a follow up about DomCon soon, along with news about what’s in progress with my artwork lately. But first, I’d like to talk about a friend of mine from Instagram, @Voxart9

ShowCard1

Los Angeles was privy to a one night only art show called “Black Licorice Hammocks” by Brian Vox, a fetish artist also known as Voxart9.

Vox creates knockout hybrid digital-painting pieces that drape his subjects in latex and leather fashions. Some works feature Femdom and Dominatrixes, other submissives in bondage. All were top notch pieces worthy of a kink craving audience.

The show was at Tortoise Industries steel shop just on the edge of Glendale. The industrial metal space was a great compliment to the work. Many paintings of women in latex masks, bondage bunnies, and so many tasty high heels were adorned with stout metal frames. Which means each piece could be hung on a wall, or sat on a solid surface independently like a sculpture.

The main gallery featured a brilliant presentation. “In our gallery, we bring the art to you,” said Vox, jesting to me in a Russian accent. Visitors hungry for eye candy stood in a dark room as the metal framed pieces were suspended by hooks on a moving chain. Spotlights revealed the pieces as they passed certain areas. This allowed Vox to show more pieces than in a typical show. If you also felt a little bored, all you had to do was get a drink, come back, and new work was coming around.

Music boomed through the show as models with black bunny masks and corsets walked the floor. A brass pole was strategically placed between rooms and we would get an occasional pole dance from the fetish bunnies at the show.

There were a couple of curious sculptures featuring rope bondage and metal, but the big painting of the show was a large set of moist lips licking themselves. The seductive mouth was suspended in rope bondage in a tremendous frame.

It was clear Vox’s show was a success. The artist attracted a hefty crowd to the show, and I quickly noticed sold tags appearing on pieces. If you missed this brief affair, and must have one of his pieces, do not worry. A catalog from the show is available at http://www.voxart9.com/store1. But fair warning, they are only available at these prices until July 31, 2018. So get yours soon.

Fetish For Life on Cafe Press

If you’ve been checking me out on Instagram and YouTube, you’ve seen that the black t-shirt came in from Cafe Press, and I’m impressed! I debuted it at Club FUK at Sanctuary LAX to good response. I’m already working on more for this concept.

What is Fetish For Life? Well, I was reading a comic called “The Humans,” which is this really great mashup of Planet of The Apes and 60’s biker exploitation films. Their patch says “Humans for Life. Humans til Deth.” I liked the idea of doing some patches, and thought of Fetish For Life.

The bad news for me is this really is I can’t lay claim to it exclusively. I bought the domain, but there are a number of people who hashtag this and several different places where it shows up. The good news for everyone is I’m not seeing anyplace where anyone can exclusively lay claim to it either. So we have a movement in the making, I just happen to be on board.

I’m going to keep going with this. You can find the t-shirts, mugs, and more I made for this at www.FetishForLife.com. New work is in the pike for this, and I am still steadfast in my resolution to do screen printing this year and crank out some home made patches.

One final note. You have until May 1st to buy from my Fetish Artist Cafe Press account. After that, I’m going to overhaul the entire page. From there, my plan is to do monthly exclusive pieces. So I’ll clear out the old, and put up a new piece for a limited time, then bring in a new exclusive. So get some of this while you can.

I’ve been thinking a lot about the Cafe Press page, and it’s been fun to tinker lately. With the change to Fetish Artist, I took a leap and changed the Cafe Press page to Fetish Artist, or http://www.cafepress.com/FetishArtist, and was shocked when it worked without any major fuss.

Now comes the hard part. Telling everyone I’ve done this, and changing my links to the Cafe Press page. My profile is still https://www.cafepress.com/profile/fetishartist, but now I can start pulling my name off the page and making life easier for the other guys with my name.

I’m still waiting for the black t-shirt to come in before I make any major announcements, but I’m going to start pulling down old art and uploading newer pieces in color.
