La Luz de Jesus caught my by surprise this week with an e-mail announcing the opening of “Hudson Marquez : Welcome to Stiletto” with reception party tonight! Friday February 3rd at 8:00 P.M.

Should have been on February 5th, in time for Shoe Porn Sunday! This is a must see for shoe fetishists.  Granted, you can still see the opening on Friday and then come back to celebrate on Sunday. Just celebrate with your clothes on please 🙂

Honestly, the style of Marquez is a little rough for my taste, but having been called “ham handed,” by some fetish art critics, I’m not much of one to talk. On the other hand, there’s definitely something to his raw style, and dedication to the shoe fetish. And, there’s a lot of them, in different styles and colors. As a fetishist, I do find it inspirational, and it is somewhat safe for work. I mean seriously, I know some vanilla women would be all over this, because it’s all about the shoes.

So come check it out tonight. La Luz de Jesus is at 4633 Hollywood blvd in Hollywood, about where Hollywood and Sunset do that weird split on the east side. You may also know of it as WACO Soap Factory. This is one of three showings that night, the other two are of Daniel Martin Diaz: Paradise Lost and Norbert Koz: False Salvador. Both look to be curious on their own, but I’m not sure if there’s any high heels in those installations 😉 For more details and a full catalog, go to http://laluzdejesus.com/marquez-kox-diaz

Meanwhile, back at the Hall of Justice, Wonder Woman shows Robin magic lasso shibari.  And I did a video blog post about my adventure at Bar Sinister last Saturday. I know I look like a dork in the video, but hey, I’m new at this. Short form is showing at Bar Sinister went well, despite a gastric ejection from a patron, but that’s the biz when you show at a Hollywood bar.

It may stop, but it never ends 🙂

El Cuervo Gallery and Antebellum at Tom of Finland

Picked all this up, along with a T-shirt for less than a good sushi binge. Click the art to go to the El Curervo gallery Facebook page

My schedule on the driving gig changed, and is about to change again. So while I was already on the move after work on Saturday, I took advantage of the moment and dropped down to El Segundo for the group art show at El Cuervo Gallery. I’ve been meaning to check this place out for about a year as pieces by artists like Keith Weesner have been showing up in their group shows.

This show rocked and you can see a few of the photos I got over on my Instagram account at @FetishAritst. Ralph, one of the staff, quickly got a beer in my hand and a warm welcome. The owner had on display a hand crafted brass knuckle dispenser, which was swiped by Long Gone John of Sympathy For The Industry Records before the show even opened. Sara Ray had two pieces on display and I got to check out new art by lowbrow artists I hadn’t even heard of yet (such as @DamienFulton, @SwaggerSkot, @FourEyes74, and @TheBettyHunter on Instagram). I walked out with a signed print by Sara Ray and one of the last signed and numbered prints by The Pizz for less than the price of one of his books.

I got a signed Sara Ray print for a great price, and picked up one of the last signed and numbered prints by The Pizz for less than the cost of one of his books. I’m not saying these guys are cheap. There is some very valuable artwork in the show by knockout artists. But they still have one of the last original paintings by The Pizz for only $400! If you collect lowbrow, pinup, hot rod and skater artwork, this place needs to be on your list!

Meanwhile….

Could this really be the end for Rick Castro’s Antebellum Gallery? Or is this just the beginning of something new?

Antebellum has closed permanently. While many of us who supported Rick Castro, knew he was eventually going to loose the location to Hollywood development, I didn’t know his “Last Tea Salon” was intended to be the last goodbye to the gallery. Due to the timing, I thought it was a goodbye to 2016 with his last tea salon for the year.

But, to paraphrase Desslok from Star Blazers, as long as Rick Castro lives, Antebellum lives! His next tea salon with be in honor of the Black Dahlia. The Tom of Finland Foundation has a greed to host his tea salon on Sunday, January 15th at the foundation house in Echo Park. Donation is $10.  Once again, chaotic schedule. Not sure if I can make it, but if you can, check out details about Rick, Black Dahlia and more at antebellumgallery.blogspot.com

Bar Sinister, January 28th in Hollywood

I whipped this up just for the fun of it. These will only be available for free at my table at Bar Sinister. This is a limited run too.

On Saturday, January 28th, I’ll be vending at Fetish Night at Bar Sinister. Odd, I thought every night was fetish night at Bar Sinister, but hey! I’ll be there!

To celebrate and say thank you, I whipped up a little something on a sketchbook I got for Christmas. So what I’m going to do is make some stickers out of this, and bring them over to the club. These will not be available for sale, and only available until supplies run out.

Bar Sinister does have a site BarSinister.net, but their instagram page is even better, check them out at @ClubBarSinister.

Meanwhile, back at home, I’ve been cooking up my first video blog. Came out a little stilted, but I figure I’ll start to relax as these progress. While I’ve doubted everyone, even anyone would want to see my ol’ face, it gave me a chance to talk about upcoming events and send some love to friends.

By the way, Tom of Finland Foundation is doing their nude male figure drawing workshop on Sunday the 8th. RSVP’s are requested and women are welcome. Go to TomOfFinlandFoundation.org for details.
