No on Measure B Needs a Porn Star Car Wash!

I’ve tried to say out of the Measure B campaign issue this year. Sure, I agree that the condom law will cause problems with the industry, especially since most people don’t know there’s other regulations and fees buried in the fine print.

What bugs me is the state our industry is in right now. Honestly, I think the Free Speech Coalition hit new lows a couple years ago. Joining the FSC in this would be something akin to diving into the tar pit while everything goes down.

Going through the archives, I found this poster I drew up for Protecting Adult Welfare long ago. The folks at PAW are industry vets who know that not all porn stars are filthy rich. They’ve provided cash and connections to help adult talent keep out of trouble. They helped friends of mine find housing and get by while waiting for work to come in.

PAW holds a number of fundraisers. The most notable these days is Bare Bowling. They also have hosted a number of porn star car washes.

The car washes were an excellent idea, they gave fans a chance to hang out, play games, get autographs, and most of all get their car washed by porn stars.

If I was pushing a No on B campaign, I’d rally the troops and push for a porn star car wash nearby as many strip clubs as possible.

While these could function as fundraisers, they’d be an even better way for porn talent to reach out to the public.

They could explain directly to press, voters and fans why they’re opposed to the measure (such as it does almost nothing to stop the spread of HIV among porn stars).
