Yeah… I kind of had an ego back then. Not that I don’t have a slightly inflated sense of self these days, but my ego’s been blunted by things like needing to keep a roof over my head and pay bills.
Blood, Babes, and Bullets Made America Great was an idea I had about the time zines were at their peak in the 90’s. I was making the rounds at sci-fi conventions, working on my graphic design degree, and looking for direction along with attention.
You can see the BDSM influences showing, but there’s still a lot of the girls with guns theme I used to have in quite a bit of my art back then. Hence, the title. Like the calendars, I signed them, and this publication even included an 11×17 poster.
There’s not as much smut in the publication as was in the calendars or current work. The book acted as a portfolio, showing I could different forms of work. Part of the idea was to shop myself around as a black and white illustrator. The work lent itself easily to much of the lowbrow printing back then, and was easy to cut & paste, or scan.
I’m going to include some of the pieces in the updates, but some scans will go straight into the gallery along with the Dominatrix calendar art.
