More Art in Progress…Girls With Guns, and What’s Going On

Transcribing the interview with The Baroness is taking up exponentially more time than I anticipated. While there’s an hour and a half of interview, I believe I’m on my fifth hour of transcription. That’s not even counting editing. If I can, I’ll update this tonight with some excerpts of the really great interview. Some may not make it to the final cut.

This piece actually started about three years ago, and it lingers in my sketchpad until I get in the mood to tweak it and move towards finishing it. It’s also got a great honor because I can be working on something kinky, and when someone goes by, I’ll flip to this page.

It was intended for a big fetish club night called Fetish Nation, from the creators of Club Hell. Sherry and I did publicity for the event, and to add to the atmosphere, I printed up posters for the walls and even did a three foot wide poster to post on the gate on Santa Monica Blvd. by the entrance.

This piece was for military night. I loved it when Cameron said he wanted to do military night. I had all these great images from the pulpy action novels of the eighties. Back then I read a lot of Mack Bolan, Able Team, and my favorite was Phoenix Force. The books usually showed these characters in gunfights of some sort with the contrasting protagonists and their different weapons. So I whipped up the sketch, but did not have a chance to finish.

When the interview with Baroness is wrapped up, I can focus more attention finishing artwork. I’ve got a nice African American Domina piece started and really enjoy the direction the piece is taking. More on that come Thursday.

Crazy Day, Crazy Art…

Mysterious creation started by someone kissing my sketchpad

Today is crazy, and I’m about to pull outta here screaming. Which, somehow, makes this piece seem even more appropriate.

During the 90’s someone saw me drawing. Unasked, the blonde picked up my bristol pad, kissed it, said “now you can draw me!” and bounced away to her drinking buddies.

Not to be evil or mean, but there was just something about this chick and this just started coming out. The chain, the scary eyes, the earrings, just started oozing out in a way. I joke that I draw what I see, but in this case it kinda just came outta the pen.

This piece has had a strange history of it’s own. It was waterlogged at the Threshold clubhouse during a hideous El Nino (the same storm that killed Virgin Records in Burbank and caused Kim Airs to shut down Grand Opening in West Hollywood). Reclaimed, remounted, and reframed, we used it in the background for the porn horror movie, The New Neighbors, financed by a rock legend named Ed.

During the shoot, the owner of the house we were shooting at went completely off the handle, and nearly trashed the cameras and tapes. He went rampaging in the driveway with a gun, threatening to shoot anyone who came back.

One actress from The New Neighbors is dead, one actor is in jail and the movie itself was pulled from distribution. I’m not sure if the masters still exist.

Currently, she’s stashed in the garage. I can’t claim she’s jinxed or possessed, but this piece does have a creepy past.

A Moment to Breathe and Update

Femdom Art color portrait of Goddess Sadie Hawkins

Miss Rubber World publicity keeps rolling on. Another press release went out last week. We’ve got a radio interview lined up for Friday on SiriusXM, Fixe Magazine has interviewed almost all the contestants, and we’ve placed interviews with contestants across the adult press with more coming.

So Saturday morning, I’ve got some time to breathe, and I’m in the other room working while Sherry sleeps in, a perfect time for artwork. I took some time to color in the Goddess Sadie Hawkins portrait. I wasn’t happy at first, but after working it quite a bit again this morning am finally satisfied.

New photo of the Grey Mistress bicycle

In case you’ve forgotten, this is the Grey Mistress bike. I still need to switch out the generator light.

I’ve also been dying to get in some time on the Grey Mistress. Some things just nag at you from the back of your mind, especially if you’re an artist. The Grey Mistress just hasn’t been working out lately. I’ve ridden it to work twice, and the experience has been exhausting. Something just wasn’t right. Last week I compared the bike to my Dahon and 10 speed, and measured the distance of the crank, the diameter of the front gear and finally, the distance from the center of the crank to the seat.

The seat of the Grey Mistress isn’t just low, it’s way too low, which means more pressure on the knees, and less power out of each push of the legs. No wonder the rides have been exhausting. Two tweaks of the seat and there is a major difference, with one major drawback. Between the back basket and the seat, the bike has now officially lost its cool. The Grey Mistress looks less like a chopper (or bobber) and more like something the homeless guys ride around town. So aesthetically, something needs to be done and the bike’s taking on a whole new direction, but a much faster one.

When life hands you free flashlights, make bike headlights.

After taking the Grey Mistress for a spin, I also did a quick experiment with some great results. There’s a lot of improvisation I see with bikes these days. Headlight laws in LA are pretty specific if you want to ride at night. So we see a multitude of bikes with flashlights taped in oddball configurations to bicycles. While this sounds silly, the flashlight tech has gotten pretty damn good.

Not a bad little flashlight either.

I keep getting these free sample flashlights in the mail from a company that makes promotional products, and they gave me a flash of inspiration, pardon the pun. There’s a product out there called the Froglite, which is really cool and popular. A Froglite is a simple led lite with a watch battery, wrapped with a silicon loop. They’re cheap and last for ages. You take the silicone loop, and wrap it around the handlebars or seat post, then stretch the end around the front of the light. Why not use the flashlights the same way. I used cut pieces from an old bike tire for the loop, and the lights secure quite nicely to the handlebars of the Dahon bike.

You can see the loop made from the bike tire, like an industrial strength rubber band.

They work great and are a great supplement to the lights I have already. Honestly, you can’t be lit up enough at night when riding in LA.

That’s all for now. I’ve got kinky Easter egg sketches cooking up for fun on the drawing pad. Should have those whipped out in a bit.
