Everything is ok. Well, kind of ok. I haven’t been in a car accident or arrested. I’ve just had some problems with my sinuses that have made sleep difficult. I’ve had to take a couple of days off from the night gig, and I’m trying to get rest when I can.
One big problem I’m having is with my car. The transmission is going out and I’m finding myself going out of my way to avoid using reverse. My mechanic says it needs to be replaced and chances are that’s about two grand altogether.
This gives me a perplexing amount of problems at exactly the wrong time, such as. I could get another car for what the transmission will cost. I hate car shopping, and chances are, no matter what the price, I’ll loose more money down the road. Saving up the cash is ridiculously difficult. Seriously, the bill for air conditioning this year could probably pay for a used Chevy. People wonder about my obsession with bicycles. Well, this is one of the top reasons why.
This means I may have trouble getting to Domcon this year. I’m already set to be working two days for union contract negotiations for my night gig during the first two days of the convention. I may also have trouble getting to the drawing workshops at Tom of Finland. On the bright side, thanks to the LA subway and light rail, I am planning on vending at the Los Angeles Comic Book and Science Fiction show Sunday, May 4th.
In other news, Bill’s last commission drawing is almost done. I’m inking in some final parts and will scan it in soon. I’m already planning out a color version, but that may take a while. What’s really harsh is I’ve heard nothing back in the past few weeks regarding the commission. I fear he may have just given up. Which really sucks given what I’ve worked out so far. Then again, maybe he’s sick like me.
I’ve already sent in Tony Batman’s piece, and am waiting for feedback on any changes. More on that later.
