Thank heavens for the day off! It’s already been a great weekend. I took a sleeping pill to help me sleep in, and it’s working a little too well (which is why I don’t use them on weeknights). I’ve basically said fuckall to doing anything outside the airlock in the post-August heatwave today, and stayed inside to work on art.
One of the things that has been handy about the night gig is I do have some down time for art. It used to be that when working late night, I’d get about 30-90 minutes of down time where I could draw. It was handy, but now I’m down to about 5-15 minutes, and of course I have to be very careful what I draw while in the field.
It feels really good to be able to sit down for a longer period to actually work some things out in the piece above. Sometimes, you just need time to figure out what works and what doesn’t (this is the reason why commercial art and illustration can look so simplistic and cliche while fine art can have more detail and stand out).
I’m working on the Femdom bondage art piece above, and am changing the overall look of the Domme in the background. I’ve reworked her hair, her corset, what she’s doing with her hands, and working all the way down to how she’s standing and how her boots will look. I’ve also changed around the subbie on the fucking machine in the back.
Unlike when out in the field, I’ve got time to pull out research materials, change things, and do a lot of erasing and redrawing. It feels great.
