This is an example of what I’ve called shooting from the hip. There’s very little reference or thought as to what I’m doing. This took about an hour and a half to whip out. What brought it about is I wanted to experiment more with black micron with black brush pen, and touch up with a white “Jelly Roll” pen.
It kind of works. The gel pen is great. I’m getting more control. The figure was inked in first with a micron, then I filled in with a brush pen, being very careful of strokes. Then I followed up with some zig-zag lines, and some thorns along the latex stockings.
I could have added more detail, but like I said, it was a shot from the hip. I got part of the idea while watching Manga Mad Tokyo on Crackle.com. I like to watch cartoons and shows while drawing, it helps the process and I get little ideas and influences. Manga Mad Tokyo was overload.
Now, you may be thinking, what what does this have to do with sex and fetish. Manga Mad Tokyo is a documentary on the Japanese Manga and Animation scene. Yes, it’s deep, with lots of cultural references and analysis, but I’d say about 40 percent of the piece is about erotica, cosplay, and hentai, with massive amounts of cartoon nudity. I found myself pausing the video, so I could take a second to focus on finishing the drawing, then go back to following what they were talking about. If you haven’t checked out Crackle.com before, have a look. They’ve got a bunch of great anime titles, classic and new.
On another note, tonight, I’m working on a press release about Jewell Marceau doing guest sessions at Sanctuary LAX, Wednesday July 24th. Professional press releases are written in a fashion similar to hard news stories. I usually ask for a quote of two to three sentences, and I tend to get back something like I’m so glad to be at… It can be very difficult at times to keep the quote on topic and interesting.
