I’ve been hooked on Failure to Fire since day one. While J. Grant and Mel Hynes are most likely better known for their cat-centric Two Lumps comic, Failure to Fire has taken on a life of its own.
If you haven’t caught on, Alex is a character introduced a couple months ago. She’s a former competition shootist who burned out and looks like she came off a Blue Blood photo layout. She’s depicted with her mohawk lopsided over one eye, a bunch of piercings, and one hell of an attitude. Her story so far is about getting her grove back on target. Mick, the main character of the comic, is vanilla, completely smitten, and out of his league in more ways than one.
Ironically, today’s Failure to Fire is Alex-centric. She’s doing the hot brass dance with a wardrobe malfunction. It’s not only sexy, it’s a lesson everyone can learn in firearm safety.
I had to take a stab at some fan art. I love Alex’s character, even though she probably wouldn’t give an old fart like me the time of day. Knowing she’s probably done the club scene, I’ve draped her in latex garb and drawn her with an MP5 and a pistol. Honestly, the character is a better shot than depicted, but I wanted the viewer to notice she was aiming for the crotch in the target. Just for fun, I added in Snooch from Two Lumps.
This piece is also a serious attempt to do better with latex color art in Photoshop. I spent Saturday morning working over the latex catsuit and corset to get shading as right as possible. I hope they like the fan art, because they’re better shots and better armed than I am.
