I had a version of this Shibari Valentine for sale over at Insight on Saturday, while it got approval from attendees, it just didn’t sell. Apparently, what did sell was the Imp Archer, the most vanilla V-day artwork of the bunch. The buyer said he liked the others, but was concerned that his subbie’s family might freak out if they saw the kinkier cards.
This of course is making be do a double take. While I’m going to continue on my course of fetish Valentines for this month (let’s face it, this two weeks), this may change my direction on greeting card art in the future. Obviously, greeting cards aren’t the only things that I draw and they’re not the only things that sell, but I can focus more on rubber fetish artwork instead without worrying if something less hardcore will move.
You’re not going to find Shibari Valentine on Cafe Press, at least not yet. I think I can get away with her being bottomless, but the nipple ring is a big red flag. If I can whip up a safe version by mid-week, I’ll post an update.
