Back in the early 90’s, what I knew of fetish clothing and fetish art came from a dozen different directions. I grabbed what I could get a hold of, when I could get a hold of it. Not exactly knowing what I was looking at.
In short, I didn’t know exactly what fetish was, but I knew what I liked and I knew the look I would be looking for.
Part of that look had one major origin. It was a magazine called <<O>>, and it was run by Peter W. Czernich. The magazine had massive amounts of rubber and fetish modeled by fantastic women in industrial backgrounds. I didn’t know Czernich had generated such a look, I just knew I liked it, and it certainly influenced a number of pieces.
Peter W. Czernich is having an art show in Amsterdam, Friday, November 23rd 2012, to promote the launch of his new book, Fetish Photography. His work will be on display until December 16th. Lazer, the piece up top, was one of many fetish art pieces influenced by his style. When I worked at QSM in San Francisco, I watched as <<O>> changed hands and Czernich premiered Marquis, much to our excitement at the store.
Ironically, I’ve been able to contribute to Marquis, not as an artist, but as a publicist, acting for our clients, such as Miss Rubber World. Czernich has even asked me to consider distributing Marquis here in the US, but that is out of my price range. It’s been an honor to correspond with the good folks at Marquis, and I thank them kindly for these opportunities.
Will my fetish art someday be featured in Marquis Magazine? By golly I sure as fuck hope so. That remains to be seen. On the other hand, I really should cook up some drawings just in honor of Marquis.
