While one of my strongest pieces, Cycle Mistress never made it into the Dominatrix Calendar series. I was going for a sci-fi look involving chrome pieces with a motorcycle look. I incorporated tank parts, springs, joints, and screens, then added a couple of cyberpunk touches. Cyberpunk was still a popular genre at the time. The background had to be all done by hand in one night. I knew if I didn’t do it all in one shot, it would go sideways if once I came back to finish.
The big reason she never made it in was she didn’t fit the philosophy behind the calendars. While it is acceptable to see an object as living, the skull-like feature of the head and mechanical body parts presented a cold and unliving image with Femdom attributes. I felt compelled to complete it. As a motorcycle and sci-fi fan, I loved working on her, but the piece could be interpreted as saying a Dominatrix is not human, which is not something I wanted to convey.
The piece did make it into zine-styled books I self published called Blood, Babes, and Bullets Made America Great, and Dauntless.
