Art Show Review: Black Licorice Hammocks by Voxart 9

Editor’s Note: DomCon was a big success, but I’m running behind on something. I’ll have a follow up about DomCon soon, along with news about what’s in progress with my artwork lately. But first, I’d like to talk about a friend of mine from Instagram, @Voxart9

Los Angeles was privy to a one night only art show called “Black Licorice Hammocks” by Brian Vox, a fetish artist also known as Voxart9.

Vox creates knockout hybrid digital-painting pieces that drape his subjects in latex and leather fashions. Some works feature Femdom and Dominatrixes, other submissives in bondage. All were top notch pieces worthy of a kink craving audience.

The show was at Tortoise Industries steel shop just on the edge of Glendale. The industrial metal space was a great compliment to the work. Many paintings of women in latex masks, bondage bunnies, and so many tasty high heels were adorned with stout metal frames. Which means each piece could be hung on a wall, or sat on a solid surface independently like a sculpture.

The main gallery featured a brilliant presentation. “In our gallery, we bring the art to you,” said Vox, jesting to me in a Russian accent. Visitors hungry for eye candy stood in a dark room as the metal framed pieces were suspended by hooks on a moving chain. Spotlights revealed the pieces as they passed certain areas. This allowed Vox to show more pieces than in a typical show. If you also felt a little bored, all you had to do was get a drink, come back, and new work was coming around.

Music boomed through the show as models with black bunny masks and corsets walked the floor. A brass pole was strategically placed between rooms and we would get an occasional pole dance from the fetish bunnies at the show.

There were a couple of curious sculptures featuring rope bondage and metal, but the big painting of the show was a large set of moist lips licking themselves. The seductive mouth was suspended in rope bondage in a tremendous frame.

It was clear Vox’s show was a success. The artist attracted a hefty crowd to the show, and I quickly noticed sold tags appearing on pieces. If you missed this brief affair, and must have one of his pieces, do not worry. A catalog from the show is available at http://www.voxart9.com/store1. But fair warning, they are only available at these prices until July 31, 2018. So get yours soon.
