Special Thanks to Shiny and Dragon’s Gate!

NSFW: Kinky Catwoman Sketch

So last night, Sherry and I were invited to Shiny’s Mardi Gras birthday party at Dragon’s Gate Studios in Orange County. Damn I am impressed. Not only does Shiny throw one hell of a party, but Dragon’s Gate is awesome.

We’ve heard a lot about Dragon’s Gate going all the way back to when I used to write columns and newsletters about BDSM events in Southern California, but I never had the occasion to go all the way past the Orange curtain to check the dungeon out. What absolutely shocked me is how much of Downtown Willy’s furniture is there. Willy’s work just keeps getting better and better. When we were members of Threshold, he did some great upholstery and thrones. Both Sanctuary LAX and Threshold have incredible spiderweb style furniture made by Willy. He created the St. Andrew’s crosses for Bondage Ball. His work at Dragon’s Gate is even better. It is like Downtown Willy just keeps turning up the volume.

I wish they had photos up on the site of his current works, including the neon backlit St. Andrews crosses, with chrome skulls, and coffin vertical bondage rack. From Porn Valley, it’s quite a drive to visit Dragon’s Gate, but definitely worth the pilgrimage to check out.

Meanwhile, work continues on the special project Sherry and I are working on. Today I was exhausted from the party, and had work to do in the garage. There’s been lots of work with power tools, and a lot of improvisation. It has provided the motivation to get the garage more organized and if I keep this up, the garage may serve double duty as a painting studio. Workspace for art is seriously needed in our cramped living area.

There’s one hitch in the project where you may benefit. We’re experimenting with wood, and in order to see how the work works well with the paints, I’m seriously thinking of just doing some pieces on finished pieces of wood. When that happens, I’ll post the experimental results on Etsy for collectors at a fair price.
