Murals for BDSM Organization, Threshold

A subject on one of the Fetlife groups has come up about paints for erotica. I’ve used Liquitex in the past, but also have turned to Ceramcoat for some work as well. These were murals for the Los Angeles BDSM Organization, Threshold using a combination of Liquitex and Ceramcoat, and for the larger pieces, latex housepaint

Bettie Page mural for Threshold, most of the fleshtones and greens were done in Ceramcoat. There’s also a layer of Ceramcoat glow in the dark media for when the lights go out.

Two pieces were done for the men’s bathroom, which was being decorated in a jungle theme. So, I figured if they were going to do jungle, why not jungle babe Betty Page.

I believe this was exclusively done in Ceramcoat, although Liquitex may have been used for the white of his eyes. If I remember right, his eyes may also be coated in glow in the dark Ceramcoat media too.

When we moved to Canoga Park, money got really tight, so we spent less time over at Threshold and my membership expired. Before that happened, Downtown Willy, Amber, Sherry and I did one final push to dress up the snack room and lounge.

The reds were exclusively done in red house paint. If I remember right, the black is also an exterior house paint. The grey stones and silver T were most likely a combination of Ceramcoat and Liquitex.

When all is said and done, I probably did more volunteer work on helping create the space than I did play there. Then again, as an artist, that tends to be in my creative nature.
